This project at 1335 W. Altgeld, Chicago, Il required rebuilding of the top six feet of parapet wall and extensive lintel replacement. All the decorative corbels and the jack arches were replaced. Replacement brick were difficult to match but work had to be completed because of extreme deterioration of the building. The building was converted from a piano factory to condominiums. Work was completed in sections to minimize the top floor units being open and disrupting the tenants. Also, because of the load bearing characteristics, it was determined this was the best way to complete the project. |
