In older buildings very often the steel will rust and the lintel and/or steel shelf angle will need replacement.  Experience is needed for a potential dangerous job.  Masonry is shored if needed when the original lintel is removed.  New steel either zinc coated or rust proofed is installed.  The size of the lintel is determined for each opening.  Perm -a- barrier flashing is installed with the necessary weep holes.

This project was at Downers Grove North High School, in Downers Grove, Il.  A boom lift was used to minimize cost of the quantity of lintels to be replaced.  Old lintels were torch cut out and new steel plates with steel gusset's were welded together.

A tedious project but the results are very long term in the future of the buildings.  The masonry was replaced after all steel and flashing work.
